Zidane Early Life
On June 23, 1972, in Marseille, France Zinedine Yazid Zidane was born. Zidane’s father was an Algerian immigrant. He learned how to play football in La Castellane street, a rough part of Marseille.
At a training camp of a French Football Federation, Zidane was discovered, he was only 14 years old then. AS Cannes recruiter Jean Varraud discovered him in the camp, Zidane spent 3 years in the Cannes youth division manifesting his great skills.
At the age of 17, he scored a goal for Cannes in his debut making his first professional appearance. In coming years Zidane an attacking midfielder was renowned for his wonderful all-around play. He was later transferred to Bordeaux in 1992.
In 1996, Zidane was transferred to Italy Seria A-League Club Juventus. Zidane proved he was capable and led Juventus to a great Victory within the next 2 seasons, winning an Italian Super Cup, UEFA Super Cup, an Intercontinental Cup, and 2 Seria A titles.
In 1998, when France hosted the World Cup he was at his peak, France won Brazil in the finals leading with 3-0 as he scored 2 goals in the match and he was a national hero. He made France proud again 2 years later after they won the European Championship against Italy winning 2-1.
Zidane signed a world-record transfer deal with the Spanish Club Real Madrid worth more than $66 million in 2001.
It was a good deal for Real Madrid as it paid immediately, as Zidane led Real Madrid to win the UEFA Championship the first year he was bought and the following season they won the La Liga.
Zidane spoke of retiring after the World Cup in Germany 2006. France made it to the finals against Italy.
