Daniele Rugani a Juventus footballer tests positive for coronavirus

On Wednesday, the top Seria A club Juventus announced one of its defender Daniele Rugani to be positive for coronavirus.

Rugani, also plays for the country’s national team, amongst the top football league of the country, he is the first to be infected by the virus as the outbreak spreads.

In Italy, the virus outbreak increases as of Wednesday to a total number of 12,462 infected, with 827 deaths. After China, these make Italy second-worst affected country.

The result was announced on social media channels and website of Juventus, who won the Seria A title for the last eight times.

Juventus said, “Rugani and those who were in contact with him are being isolated”. Though the symptoms of the disease are not shown in the player.

Early Wednesday, Juventus had a training, though it was not disclosed if Rugani was present. Juventus earlier said that their striker Cristiano Ronaldo due to the pending developments concerning the health emergency of his mom last week who had a stroke.

Italy is currently facing a nationwide lock-down due to the virus outbreak. All sports activities including football have been banned until the 3rd of April.

However, coming Tuesday Juventus is scheduled to play the French club Lyon in their second leg of round 16.

In the last game, Rugani was an unused substitute, last Sunday at a home match against Inter Milan. The match was played in line with the government decree, without fans before things got worst in Italy.

A statement was released by Inter Milan shortly after the Juventus announcement, saying all competitive activities have been suspended until further notice.

Adding: “The club is putting necessary steps to put things to place currently”.

This also includes the personal quarantine of players and staff.

After the Spanish club announced they would not travel to Italy, the Europa League game of Inter Milan and Gatefa scheduled on Thursday was postponed.

The last game played by Rugani was with Spal FC on February 22. He was on the substitute bench for the round of 16 Champions League first leg.

After the opposite of Juventus Under 23 squad was recently tested positive on the virus they had to self-isolate themselves. The quarantine ended without any playing showing symptoms of the virus on March 9.

For several people, the virus can only show normal symptoms, like fever and cough. But for some, it can be extreme especially the older adults and people already with health issues. It can be more severe for them with pneumonia.

Major people have recovered from the coronavirus.

People with little illness can recover within 2 weeks and in severe cases, it can take up to 6 weeks to recover, this was according to WHO.
